Marcin Motyka, new professor at the Department!
Marcin Motyka joined the ranks of full professors at the Department of Experimental Physics in June this year.
Professor Maciej Motyka has been associated with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology since his studies at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology, from which he graduated in 2004. He obtained his PhD in Physics in 2008 and his habilitation in 2017. His habilitation was based on a series of publications on the optical properties of active regions of semiconductor lasers operating in the mid-infrared range.
Prof. Motyka heads the Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy group. His research interests include semiconductor physics, quantum wells and superlattices, modulation spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
His research focuses on semiconductors and low-dimensional structures for mid- and long-wavelength infrared emitters and detectors. His research includes quantum wells, heterojunctions, quantum superlattices, active regions of interband and quantum cascade lasers, and laser resonator components such as Bragg mirrors and subwavelength diffraction gratings.
