Adam Sieradzki is the new titular professor in the Department
The President of the Republic of Poland has conferred the title of Professor of Science and Natural Sciences in the discipline of Physical Sciences on Adam Sieradzki, DSc, PhD, Eng., Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. He is passionate about science communication and outreach. Among other initiatives, he is the creator of the well-known Physics of Sport project.
Professor Adam Sieradzki has been affiliated with Wrocław University of Science and Technology since he began his studies at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology. In 2002, he graduated with a degree in Physics, earning an MSc in Engineering, and in 2006, he obtained a PhD in Physical Sciences. In 2018, he was awarded the degree of habilitated doctor.
His research focuses on the physics of materials, particularly the study of hybrid organic–inorganic structures. His work explores the mechanisms of phase transitions and molecular dynamics, as well as their influence on the electrical and optical properties of materials, including ferroelectric phenomena. A key area of his research involves investigating the fundamental relationships between the structure, dynamics, and properties of matter, which may provide a basis for designing new functional materials with controllable and switchable properties.

He is the author and co-author of more than 120 scientific publications indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. His research findings have been published in prestigious international journals, including Nature Communications, Small, and Chemistry of Materials. According to Scopus, his publications have received more than 2,000 citations, excluding self-citations, and his h-index is 33. He is also a co-inventor of a patent.
In 2007–2008, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg (IPCMS) at Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. He collaborates with numerous research institutions in Poland and abroad and is also actively involved in mentoring early-career researchers, as well as in expert and peer-review activities.
He is also involved in the administrative affairs of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. From 2020 to 2024, he served as Vice-Dean for Promotion and Cooperation at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology. He currently serves as Vice-Dean for General Affairs and Finance at the same faculty. For the 2024–2028 term, he is a member of the University Senate. Since 2022, he has served on the University’s Interfaculty Admissions Committee, and since 2019, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Academic High School of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Science communication and outreach are an important part of his work. He delivers popular science lectures throughout Poland, is the initiator and co-organiser of the Physics of Sport project, serves on the national organising committee of the Young Physicists’ Tournament, and has been a long-standing member of the jury for the Explory competition.
In recognition of his teaching and science outreach activities, he has received numerous awards from students. These include the main prize and the Golden Cup in Radio LUZ’s Kubek dla Wykładowcy (Lecturer of the Year) poll, the Mistrz Uśmiechu 🙂 (Master of Smiles) award presented by students of the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology, and an award under Wrocław University of Science and Technology’s Quintus programme. He has also received numerous Rector’s Awards from the University. In 2026, he was awarded the Medal of the Commission of National Education.
