Wrocław University of Science and Technology Physics Seminar – Monday 11th of May 2026

We cordially invite you to Wrocław University of Science and Technology Physics Seminar on Monday 11th of May 2026 at 11:15 in room 322, building A-1, where there will be delivered a lecture:

Can (Cd,Mn)Te quantum wells still hold surprises after years of research?

Prof. Piotr Kossacki

Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw

———————————————————————————————————————-
Quantum wells based on (Cd,Mn)Te have been studied for over 30 years. Despite this, they still hide surprises and offer interesting and unexpected physics. During my seminar, I will focus on two new, surprising results. The first concerns measurements of exciton diffusion and coherence propagation investigated using the heterodyne four-wave mixing technique. By measuring the nonlinear response with micron-scale spatial resolution, we were able to determine the propagation velocity of exciton coherence and demonstrate that it is significantly faster than exciton diffusion. As a second example, I will discuss new results from optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) and how they shed new light on the properties of the carrier gas within the quantum well.
