Advanced Methods of Semiconductor Research Seminar – Tuesday 10th of March 2026

We cordially invite you to Advanced Methods of Semiconductor Research Seminar on Tuesday 10th of March 2026 at 13:15 in room 321, building A-1, where there will be delivered a lecture:

Controlling spin polarization in van der Waals heterostructures

by Prof. Alessandro Surrente
from Department of Experimental Physics, Wrocław Tech

The lecture abstract is attached below.

Lecture abstract:

The capability of initializing and controlling a population of spin-polarized carriers is an essential prerequisite for the use of semiconductor materials in spintronic and opto-spintronic applications. During this talk, I will discuss how magnetic fields can be used to access the intervalley dynamics and control the valley polarization of transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers and heterobilayers. Subsequently, we will show how a WSe2 monolayer can be used to “sensitize” the circular polarization of the interlayer exciton in a WSe2/2D perovskite heterostructure.
