Seminarium Advanced Methods of Semiconductor Research – wtorek 21 kwietnia 2026
We cordially invite you to Advanced Methods of Semiconductor Research Seminar on Tuesday 21st of April 2026 at 13:15 in room 321, building A-1, where there will be delivered a lecture:
Optical probing of magnetism in 2d magnetic semiconductors
by Maciej Śmiertka
from Department of Experimental Physics, Wrocław Tech

Lecture abstract:
CrSBr is a rare example of a 2D material where magnetism and light are strongly coupled, making it an ideal platform to optically probe magnetic order and internal perturbations. In this system, we identify two coexisting exciton types: Frenkel and Wannier-Mott each sensing the magnetic state of the crystal at a different length scale. We further show that halogen alloying allows us to continuously tune the character of these excitons and their sensitivity to magnetism.
